The Missoni x Converse collab has been consistently strong thus far, using the Chucks as the primary canvas to work with. However for the spring we get a sportier model, the Auckland Racer in a super clean and rather subtle pattern...
If done right these could be epically killer. Check for 'em in the coming months at Converse flagships and top accounts.
Comme des Garçons PLAY and Converse are back at it again, this time using the Jack Purcell...
Kinda wish they did a little something different then they did last year with the Chucks, but overall it's still a clean look and they added the black hearts for a slightly more incognito look.
As you most likely expected, with the opening of the very first Converse NYC in SoHo, there will be plenty of exclusive products for the store. Here's a quick look at some of the NYC merchandised shoes and apparel...
There are also plenty more colorways of the NYC tees, including all of the boroughs and even more neighborhoods. The customization station in the store will also be branding products with a rotating selection of graphics that are all limited to the NYC store.
Set for a Black Friday launch, Converse will be opening its first doors in Manhattan, right in the heart of SoHo. And while we've known about this for months, we now finally get a look inside the newest and largest Converse shop in the world...
Damn, how I love the raw interiors of SoHo storefronts and every shops' interpretation of them. This one stays pretty true to the vintage look and keeps a nice mix between casual and sport.
Not only will this Converse store boast the biggest selection of Converse footwear in the globe, it will also house an exclusive line of apparel and accessories, as well as a customization station (see: nike ID).
The grand opening of the Converse SoHo store will be on Friday, November 26, 2010, opening at 8 am. The store’s normal operating hours will be Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 8 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 7 pm.
Paying homage to the past, present, and future, Converse has gathered their athletes from all walks for this new commercial, "The Procession", to launch their 2010 campaign...
Dr. J, Jim Jones, God Shamgod, Rune Glifberg, and Doug E Fresh in the same commercial... damn.
Converse pays some tribute to the OG rhyme master this Fall with an entire collection of Chuck Taylors themed around your favorite childhood books...
Adults above, children below
"Bold colors, rhymes and the funny characters that Dr. Seuss made famous are boldly displayed on Chuck Taylor All Star shoes. With some styles looking as if they themselves are straight out of Dr. Seuss-ville, this collection is bound to inspire the dreams of children young and old. The collection includes lace-ups for both adults and children and an alternative closure oxford for the really small."
The "Thing 1, Thing 2" Chucks are a personal favorite, I just hope they also make them in adult sizes. The top 2 Cat in the Hat hi tops are also pretty awesome.
Fall 2010 releases so expect them to start hitting stores by Summer's end.
Here's another video our boy Ibe shot while I helped him move into his new apartment. In order of first appearance, it features: him, his girlfriend Capri, Me, and our boy Taurean. The awesome song blessing your ear drums is "Say Goodbye to Love" by Star Trak's very own Kenna.
Enjoy.
THE FITS
Ibe is rocking a Flight Club Brooklyn Bridge hat, a DURKL tee, a Ducksworth bracelet, Levi jeans, and Adidas sneakers. (Don't forget that you can get 20% off of DURKL with the "swaggerdap" code)
Capri is wearing a vintage hat from Fabulous Fanny's, a Top Shop shirt, American Apparel leggings, and vintage Charles David boots.
Taurean is decked out in an Obama Promo hat, a Converse tee, Abercrombie & Fitch jeans, and S. Carter sneakers.
FYI - Ibe is an underground music producer that works with dope artists like Mickey Factz, Jade, and Curtis Santiago; but he's also getting pretty good at shooting and editing videos. Be sure to check out his blog.
To celebrate their 120th anniversary, Lanvin is getting together with Converse to appropriately produce 120 pairs of one of their '76 models.
Simple white & navy scheme with the off-white mid-soles and a small Lanvin tag on the upper, these are simple yet dope. I'm having a little touble figuring out this Lanvin en Bleu project but these sneakers seem to be part of it and will be releasing September 10th for roughly $160. (wish I could tell you where but from what I've gathered I'm thinking Japan and possibly Lanvin store as a location)

Fast forward to 2009 and to celebrate the 5th Anniversary and their 10th Issue (SHOES MASTER is published twice a year) they have released a compilation book, containing the best and most talked about articles and interviews from the previous SHOES MASTER magazines.
Interviews with Hiroshi Fujiwara (Fragment), Hiroaki Shitano (Whiz), Shigeyuki Kunii (mita) and others are included, as well as features on many brands such as adidas, Converse, Reebok and VANS about what the future holds for the sneaker market.
The major bonus with the book is that it is in Japanese AND English, so sneaker heads from all over the world can enjoy it.
The book finishes with a list of the best and hottest Tokyo Sneaker stores, with a map to help you find them the next time you are in Tokyo.
Here are some scans from the book.
I will type up a transcript of the interview with Hiroshi Fujiwara later this week.
As Converse continues to drop tons of inspired worked and Product Red artist collabs, they have just released a pair of "Strait Jacket" Jack Purcell's inspired by Ozzy Ozbourne that really caught me.
Definitely something nice and creative by Converse as they use straps and canvas to perfectly recreate a strait jacket on a sneaker. My only issue with these "crazy" inspired sneakers is that they kinda rip the identity of the Michael Lau Crazy Force Ones with the little sketched Ozzy on the side. The insides of the shoe is also covered with little Ozzy's.
Then there are two pairs of All Stars that are also covered in the little Ozzy sketch that closely resembles the little Michael Lau sketch.
From Converse: "Inspired by the Prince of Darkness. He helped build the genre embraced by generations of fist-pumping rockers. Then, after the days of drop-tuned doom, the gather of metal went solo, creating his own enthralling kind of onstage meyhen that tranformed him from an eccentric character into a musical icon."
In yet another collaboration between Converse and Lupe Fiasco we see some nice Product (RED) All Stars entitled the 100 Supplémentaire.
While there is little info on these besides this image, they are said to be politically driven with the writing all over the shoes being the views of Lupe himself. I'm not sure what the title 100 Supplémentaires means, but supplémentaires is French for 'more' or 'additional' so I guess it's '100 More' but I don't know the symbolism behind that.
As for the shoe itself, very clean white with black type print, almost looking like a newspaper. The top two eyelets are the only small details of red on the shoe.
Check for these at select Converse locations this month.
1st let me apologize for the Faces in the Crowd hiatus due to a broken computer and the scare of some lost pictures. But now that I have no excuses, )and because we started getting nasty emails and tweets from fans demanding that this section return asap) lets start it up again with Cathleen and Cy who we met in line for milk teas in Hong Kong.
Names: Cathleen & Cy Age: 17 Job: Students Favorite Brands: Cathleen - 2 percent; Cy - Undercover Wearing: Cathleen - Clothes from Mong Kok shops, Fanning Bag, Converse sneakers Cy - Uniqlo Sweater, Undercover tee, Uniqlo jeans, Vans sneakers, Porter bag If you could be anywhere drinking your milk tea right now, where would it be?: TST or Causeway
Yea guess they just love Hong Kong, since they just wouldn't go very far with those milk teas. But these girls were really cool cause it took a while to get this done in a very crowded corner between the milk tea place and another place that sells a bunch of food that would probably scare most of you. So thanks again!
We should have one more Faces in the Crowd from Hong Kong and then it's on to .... sighhh ... Syracuse where we might just start Faces in the Crowd-ing ourselves to keep it interesting.
