Comme des Garçons x Converse Jack Purcell

Comme des Garçons PLAY and Converse are back at it again, this time using the Jack Purcell...

Kinda wish they did a little something different then they did last year with the Chucks, but overall it's still a clean look and they added the black hearts for a slightly more incognito look.

Due out in March.

For the holidays, Comme des Garçons is putting a festive twist on the packaging of two fragrances. The very popular Comme des Garçons 2 as well as the brand new Wonderwood scents will be done up, Merry Crazy Happy Colour style...

The bottles are covered in a bright and colorful hand-made paper maché mask. Available in the coming weeks at Comme des Garçons stores and select accounts.

Comme des Garçons Website Launch

After years of internet anonymity, Comme des Garçons has succumb to the pressures and demands of the generation and started their very own website...

You know that very famous saying "be careful what you wish for"? ... yeah that applies pretty well here. I'm sure everyone was expecting an eccentrically designed site that offered all of the latest news and products, but instead we get a virtually impossible to navigate page that really doesn't offer much at all. Took me about 5 minutes to get to the store locator page, but that was by accident really. Oh well, at least their stores and products speak loudly enough to how amazing the brand is, some website could never change that much.

Random opinion, Maison Martin Margiela site >>>>

Comme des Garçons PLAY x EXI.T - Pop-Up in Hong Kong

For the next couple of weeks there will be a Comme des Garçons PLAY pop-up in the EXI.T shop in Causeway Bay...

With basically no buildout, the shop maintains the raw industrial feeling that Comme des Garçons brings to many of its locations. And as for product, it is carrying a limited line of 5 tees, which you can get a peek at in the pictures.

July 10- Aug 1

Comme des Garçons - Wonderwood Fragrance Short Film | Video

To mark the launch of Comme des Garçons new fragrance WONDERWOOD a short film has
been made by the Brothers Quay, highly renowned for their stop motion technique of film making. The piece is about a man who "loved trees more than words could say". The music and imagery were completely spellbinding to me, but I think you need a dim room, headphones and quiet background to really capture it all. Just watch...

Somewhat creepy, and all the way enchanting. I love it. The new scent will be out soon, and unlike 95% of fragrances in the market (which are done by a huge third party company) Comme des Garçons is very hands on with their olfactory department. That's why their scents are often very peculiar and may not be for everyone. It's art really. This Wonderwood scent in particular is made completely of various wood elements, as you may have imagined.

Junya Wantanabe for Comme des Garçon MAN - s/s 2010 Levi's

One of my favorite lines, MAN by Junya Wantanabe for Comme des Garçon, is always using patchwork in the most interesting ways. This season the denim is actually slightly more subtle then we are used to seeing, but the details are still great and the patchwork is still alive...

The back pockets have the most obvious treatment with big corduroy detail in a nice wheat color.

Not only the cuffs, but the entire inside of the jeans are lined with a colored plaid. Perfect for the Spring and rolling up the ankles.

Lastly there is a dark brown corduroy used around the waist that almost simulates the look of a belt.

These are just releasing for Spring '10 so go check out your local Comme des Garçon shop or account to check them out in person. The only downside is that the MAN line has a way of hurting pockets just as well as it makes them. (sorry I had to)

COMME des GARCONS Junya Watanabe MAN "Snob" Collection

Junya Watanabe starts 2010 off with a preview of his Snob collection.

With obvious elements taken from the "English Gentleman" style, we not only see several plaid and Pringle designs, but also some very nice denim.

Hoods, Comme des Garçons, (BBC/ Ice Cream?) Hong Kong Stores Moving

Sadly, one of my favorite shopping streets in Hong Kong is getting shaken up this month as the entire block of On Lan Street in Central has apparently been sold. This means that the store fronts of Comme des Garçons, Martin Margiela, BBC/ Ice Cream, and Hoods, which are all right next to eachother, are being forced out of their respective spots.
The only question mark that is yet to be seen is the BBC/ Ice Cream store. Apparently there isn't a "We're moving" sign on the store front which could either mean that they got lucky (doubt it), or that the store might cease to exist in Hong Kong, at least for a little bit.

Since they are all run by fashion and store gurus I.T., I have much hope that they will all still be very close to each other. It is already confirmed that Hoods and Comme des Garçons will be heading to Ice House Street, which is just down the hill and still close by Bape. I wonder how these moves will effect the business of FIL and Junya Wantanabe though, which are even further up the hill.

Really sad to see this area taken apart because it was such a perfect little area to shop (well window shop mostly), and more uniquely it was a very nice and quiet block which is hard to find right in the heart of Central. Also doubt that the stores will be able to find something as great as the 4 story spots that they had there. But only time will tell.

Comme des Garçons BLACK Opens in NYC

On a very quiet street corner in Chelsea yesterday, the Comme des Garçons BLACK store opened its doors for the very 1st time.

Sorry for the crazy glare on the pictures but it was actually sunny for a change.

A very small boutique, the BLACK store is carrying a decent selection of womens clothing that is almost all blacked out (with the exception of some white here and there as well as a blue and black striped shirt). The collection is really well done with plenty of staple pieces well blended in with the avante garde ones that make CdG so great. It is serving as primarily a womens stores (I say primarily because some of the pants and tees looked a little big and could definitely be pulled off by guys) but word is that within the next month or 2 we should be seeing some selection for menswear.
BLACK going with the recession theme will allegedly last as long as this economic downturn lasts, which is nice since the prices are relatively cheap compared to the normal Comme des Garçons product. Figure roughly 40% off most items.

Aside from this store which is on 10th st. and 18th st. in Chelsea, there is also a BLACK corner in Barneys New York. Check here for the full list of stores.
And to get a limited view of the collection, check here.

Comme des Garçons BLACK Stores

You may remember back in February when Comme des Garçons opened their Comme des Garçons BLACK concept shop in Tokyo. Well now to celebrate their 40th anniversary, the Japanese label will be opening 13 more BLACK spaces for a limited time.

For the next month there will be 11 stores throughout Asia. As well as a space inside of Collete and Barneys NYC which will each open on June 22nd.

The stores will sell special BLACK products for the anniversary, and I'm sure will all draw quite the crowd, especially in the Asia stores. So make sure you check it out!

Undercover x Comme des Garçons - Summer Madness Tees

Two of the most respected fashion brands out of Japan, Comme des Garçons and Undercover (neither of which have a website oddly enough), have teamed up for a few "Summer Madness" tees for Summer 2009.

Really simple and summer themed, I am loving the 1st all black and white one. The shirt reads "Undercover 4 Comme des Garçons" so check out Comme des Garçons accounts, especially in Asia, for these tees.

Comme des Garçons PLAY Converse Chucks

The Comme des Garçons PLAY canvas sneakers that I showed you not too long ago turned out to actually be a little more than just rip off Chucks, as they are actually a collaboration with Converse for some official Comme des Garçons PLAY Chuck Taylors.

Coming in high and low in both the black and off-white colorway, these simple and clean Chucks feature the PLAY logo embroidered on one side and a contrasting strip down the back od the sneaker.
These will be released in July via RS1 who will apparently be offering online orders and international shipping.

Comme des Garçons PLAY Canvas Sneakers

Comme des Garçons has released a fair share of sneakers in the past, especially collaboratively, however they are now about to introduce the very 1st PLAY sneaker.

In 2 overly simple colorways, the PLAY sneakers come in black and off white white with a hi and low of each. The classic Chuck's silhouette is rather fitting for the more high end formal brand, with the only flair being the PLAY heart sitting on the side of the shoe.

Expected to be released this Spring at Comme des Garçons PLAY accounts.

BLACK Comme des Garçons - Concept Store & Bearbrick Products

The space than once housed the Louis Vuitton x Comme des Garçons concept shop in Tokyo will now be home to the new BLACK Comme des Garçons store for a short period of time. For now the only products that are confirmed for the BLACK store are from a Kubrick Bearbrick collaboration.

The BLACK Comme des Garçons storefront in Aoyama.
Bearbricks will come in 400% and 100%
Set of 2 tees.

The store is sure to be amazing as Comme des Garçons never seems to disappoint with their in-store designs. Pretty nice tees and a really clean Bearbrick right there as well. The store is open now, but will only around until April.
