Adventures in NYC: After Irene

As you may know, over the past weekend NYC was completely shut down because of this little hurricane Irene thing. And even though the storm had come and gone by the time most people woke up on Sunday morning, NYC was still a total ghost town all day. But since I was already forced to stay in New Jersey for an entire day and had the homie Mehdi visiting New York for the first time on this unfortunate weekend, we ventured into desolate streets of Manhattan...

Some amazingly simple yet stunning street art that can be seen on about 10 or so of these lamp posts by St. Marks and Cooper Union. Must have taken forever.

Setting up for SeriousWapanese x FuckYouJohn

Fucking Jersey... but the random adventures and seeing the city so crippled without trains was definitely worth the trip in.

Lanvin Fall 2011 Video Campaign

Lanvin takes a rather alternative approach to their Fall 2011 campaign, straying pretty much as far as you can from classy by having some models in couture dancing... to Pitbull...

Alber is the man for this one, I love that he joined in. Utmost swag.

The whole essence of these high end lines is to remain sexy and refined, which is exactly why it's so dope when people stop taking this shit so serious and actually have fun. Rispek.

YMC - a/w 2011 Fair Isle Cardigan

YMC (You Must Create) consistently keeps it clean and quality, but also gives us enough of that 'special' factor to make their items worth their price tag in this economy (think of them as like a fashion forward APC). Case and point: this seemingly crazy fair isle patterned cardigan that actually comes off a little understated so that it can be thrown in heavy rotation for the Fall and Winter...

Chaotic simplicity.

This piece definitely stuck out to me, but the entire collection follows that college inspired look, so be sure to check the rest over at glltn.

Elise Morin & Clémence Eliard - Wastelandscape | Art

In the elegant and antique city of Paris, you can now find this new futuristic landscape/ art installation by artist Elise Morin and architect Clémence Eliard. The work is called Wastelanscape and is a set of hills made from over 65,000 old CDs hand sewn together...

Wastelandscape can currently be seen at Centquatre until September 10th, and is then planned for exhibition in multiple locations, transforming each time, before eventually being completely recycled into polycarbonate.
Eco-art swag.
