The New Digs

Since my last post a lot has happened. The job has been getting pretty intense, I bought a pair of shoes here and there, my computer crashed (hence the lack of posts and inability to get my photography up), and most exciting for me is that I finally got an apartment! Yep moved into a nice spot in Chinatown, downtown Manhattan, living outside my means and having all the fun to justify it. These are just some completely random pictures from the past few months in the new hood...

Welcome to Money Making Manhattan.
This dude was on some evil plotting shit... had to capture

This last picture is the only one not taken in the new hood, but this is the new roommate, Devin. Cali native, he's a random motherfucker and we also work together so I'm sure you'll be seeing more of this fool.

So I'll be back with more posts, some news, and lots of pictures. I'm still messing around with the HTML on here and getting acclimated with the new computer so pardon the formatting errors.

And as always, let me know what you think is dope, what you want to see (or see more of), and if you have any questions. I work in SoHo and live in Chinatown so I want to be able to let people see what I see... that is as long as it interests you.

NYC Time Lapse by Mindrelic | Video

Upstate NY based photographer Mindrelic, who specializes in the stringent form of time lapse videos, presents us with this collection of spellbinding views of New York City...

Seriously amazing. It's funny how you can live somewhere and walk by things all of the time, but it's only once they are portrayed to you as art that you truly appreciate the beauty in them. HUGE bravo to Mindrelic. Make sure to peep his Vimeo page for more eye candy.

*looks into time lapse methods to replicate this in Tokyo*

Artist Profile - Li Wei

Beijing bred artist Li Wei has been mesmerizing people for years with his mix of photography, performance art, and good ole smoke and mirrors. And by photography, I really mean true photography, aka no Photoshop was used to aid these ridiculous results...

While we don't know EXACTLY what goes into these pictures, Li Wei has said that it takes lots of mirrors, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatic ability. And even admits that some of his works were actually pretty damn dangerous to perform, which is why he is the subject of many of his own works. Not too shabby for someone with a Masters Degree in oil painting, eh?

Check a bunch more of Li Wei's work here.

Yours Truly - s/s '10 "Lifestyles of Yours Truly" LookBook

I recently got together with Brooklyn based Yours Truly to shoot their Summer 2010 lookbook. The season is entitled "Lifestyles of Yours Truly", and here's a look into the line...

(Shot throughout Brooklyn, the model is @pealnana.)

The line perfect for the summer, bringing in new t-shirt dresses, tank dresses, a light hoody with removable sleeves, and, well... watermelon! And as a bonus the entire line is made from 100% Organic Pima Cotton from Peru for all you hipster tree huggers out there.

The entire collection will be available mid-may through the YoursTrulyBrand website and in YT accounts worldwide.

JeongMee Yoon - Pink & Blue Project (Photography)

Photographer JeongMee Yoon has put together a really cool collection of pictures called the Pink & Blue Project. The shots are inspired by children all over the world as she captures kids in their rooms with every possible piece of pink or blue that they own on display. Here are just a few samples from the project...

She has been working on the ongoing project for 4 years now and on top of the pink and blue, is adding a complete "Color Project" which I can already see being much more difficult to find material for.

The project is much deeper than just the visuals as she is reaching to touch on both gender and cultural childhood norms. You can read more about her Pink & Blue thesis work, as well as view many many more pictures from the collection, here.

A Pic a Day?

I'll be the 1st to admit that sometimes I get tired of the everyday posts about release dates, new products, and parties. But while information is the reason that some people visit the blog I always wanted entertainment to be one as well, which is why I try to randomly throw up new artists and music from time to time.

So I was thinking, what about a picture a day? Something like this ...

... not really having anything to do with anything, just something that I shot and thought was worthy to be shown to the world. While I wish I could live an interesting enough life to produce one new picture everyday, unfortunately I don't know if I can. However I do have piles upon piles of pictures on my hard drive that could always suffice.

How do YOU feel about this? Something you'd want to read? or something that you'd have to weed through?
What kind of pictures would you want to see? Would they need to be fashion related?
Should I tell a quick story? or let the picture do the talking?
What should the segment be called?
Should I stop asking questions now?

So just throwing it out there, hit me on AIM, Twitter, email, call, mail me a letter, telegram, or just leave a comment below.

Adventures in Boston: Drinks & Lights

Went up to my 2nd home for a couple days this weekend and played around with the new camera a little bit. The days consisted of walking outside, eating, drinking, and shopping, so yea it was a damn good weekend...

Spotted even more Shepard Fairy in Caimbridge. He really has taken over the city.

I just love everything about this picture.

My graduation gift to myself. Great now I'm broker than I already was.

Awesome sangria sampler and margaritas.

Then since it was getting dark we decided to have some with shutter speed and light (as always, no photoshopping here)...

Since I'm now addicted to taking pictures with this thing I decided to also start a personal Tumblr blog, The Dap. So hit me up with your own Tumblr sites or follow mine so that I can follow back.

A Random SwaggerDap Photoshoot

The other day we helped out one of our friends, Katie , with a photo project that she had for a class. The project was to follow Meezy around and document his life through images. This was just one part of the project, and the pictures came out looking awesome...

Leaders of the new school.

Hadooooookin!

Almost dropped his new 8900... close call.

Corny, but kinda had to do it :-/

Maybe we can get the whole slide show up on the blog too. "My friends call me Meeeeeeeeeeeeeezy"
