Sa-Ra - Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love

The Sa-Ra Creative Partners (or more simply Sa-Ra) have just released their second album, Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love.

If you haven't heard of Sa-Ra, it is made up of Om’Mas Keith, Shafiq Husayn and Taz Arnold, each of which bring their own musical prowess to the group. Thier 1st album, The Hollywood Recordings, is one of my favorite albums period as they covered all aspects of funk, soul, r&b, and hip hop in one album. This new album strays away from the hip hop influence and is much more consistently funky. It also has very few features so the sound is pure Sa-Ra, where the 1st was feature heavy with the likes of Dilla, Bilal, Pharaoh Monch, CNN, and Erykah Badu.

If nothing else, Sa-Ra comes with an extremely unique sound and they always have fun with the music. The lyrics can be deep at times but also be subtly hysterical at the same time without you even noticing.

I'm still on my 1st listen and my expectations are crazy high, but so far my favorite tracks are: Melodee N'mynor, The Bone Song, Bitch Day, Love Czars

Preview some tracks on their Myspace or just go and cop it right here.
