N*E*R*D @ Syracuse University

Team SwaggerDap hit up Syracuse last weekend for SU's annual Block Party concert which featured N*E*R*D, Drake, K-OS, and Francis in the Lights. And while I wasn't allowed to bring my camera inside the Dome, BBC just posted from pics from the show...

For concerts in the Carrier Dome they have to cover half of the stadium and only use about 15,000 seats...

So N*E*R*D and Fam-lay took the time to play some football on the legendary field. NO WONDER they took so long to come on...

While much of the crowd was there for Drake, there were definitely some N*E*R*D die-hards in attendance, but I must say that our section of friends jumped and Spaz'd better than anyone!

"Starrrrrr-traaaakkkk"

Been waiting to see N*E*R*D for years now so this was an absolutely amazing experience for me. Next time I need to see them in a small venue full of N*E*R*D heads though!

Nike Sportswear "Bleed Your Colors" Campaign

Nike Sportswear has cleverly tied in March Madness to their huge N98 track jacket launch, with this new "Bleed Your Colors" campaign. To do so they got some recent grads turned NBA players to show off the jacket and rep their old school colors with pride. Since we hold such strong ties to Syracuse, lets start it off with Johnny Flynn...

Johnny Flynn - Syracuse University Orange

And to be honest I wasn't even going to post the rest! (school pride almost getting the best of me)... but since 3 of the four teams are still in the tourney, and the ad campaign is pretty dope, here you go...

Brandon Roy - Washing University Huskies

Zach Randolph - Michigan State University Spartans

Ty Lawson - University of North Carolina Tar Heels

Gerald Henderson - Duke University Blue Devils

Yeah, one of the many things that I've learned being at Nike is that they do what they do very well. Sure that's a very general and possible understatement, but hey it's true! This campaign is perfect for March Madness, and they did an excellent job on the color choices.

The N98 track jacket is available at Nike stores world wide, and also available for customization at Nikes 255 Elizabeth St. design studio in NYC.

All Orange Everything Tees for Sale

Paying homage to Syracuse University's amazing run in Mens College Basketball this year, the SwaggerDap team (of proud Syracuse Alumni) is proud to present the All Orange Everything Tee...

The tee playfully counters Jay-Z's "All Black Everything" movement; but shows respect with three Blue Print 3 stripes on the back, along with the words "Run This City" - hinting to the song that inspired it, and stating that SU is Running This City!

The tees were designed by Chhorvy (yet another Cuse alum), who also did our business cards! They just came in and we'll be selling them on campus for the #4 Syracuse vs #8 Villanova game today. We know there are plenty of alumni and fans that can't make it to this game so we are also making them available online so that our Syracuse family can get theirs no matter where they are.

Thanks for the support! and GO CUSE!

Nike x Futura x Syracuse University | Be True

As a Syracuse alum, I've been wanting to post about this Nike x Futura x Syracuse Be True collection for a while now. Unfortunately I was out of town and couldn't make it to the release party where Futura, Pearl Washington, and Paul Harris were in attendance, but I was able to make it down to 21 Mercer yesterday to snap a few pics...

Futura basically got an entire store takeover, with his rendition of the Orangeman on the walls over his camo print. And for the event he also gave the store his graffiti treatment, even turning some of his traditional atom like designs into basketballs. There was also some of Futura's photography on display from his recent trip to a 'Cuse game at the Carrier Dome.

The apparel collection consists of a t-shirt, hoody, track jacket, and stadium jacket, all coming in 2 colorways. The t-shirt features Futura's Orangman on the from with the camo print in 3m on the back, in both black and white. The hoody comes in grey with orange details, as well as black on black. The track jacket comes in white (seen below) as well as black on black. And the stadium jacket comes in blue with blue all over stitched details, as well as orange patches, like a varsity jacket, also the same details in another black on black version.

The footwear collection consists of an AF-1 premuim in all black and one in all grey that simply reads "Be True" on the bottom sole. There is also a Dunk Hi that features Futura's camo in black and orange all over the shoe.

Not everything is available online, but you can shop some of the collection here.

So happy and honored that both Nike and Futura picked Syracuse to do this artist collection with. And what a great year to pick, as 'Cuse sits at #4 on the polls for mens Basketball.

1,000 Posts and Runnin'

It's been one year, six months, and thirty days since we started this blog, and damn have we come a long way. Been through 4 cameras, more countries than I would have imagined, and met some really amazing people. I used to get mad when Meezy would blog about his lunch, and now we're being sourced by the likes of Hypebeast and Honeyee, as well as actually making a difference for some of these brands. And even with all of that, I promise that this is just the beginning.
Some of you have been with us from day 1 and some of you might be reading this as your very 1st SwaggerDap visit, so here are just a handful of pictures to catch you up on the past year and a half...

We started in this little cubicle at Syracuse University with an idea and a ton of work to do...

Up at Syracuse we got into some shenanigans, which for some reason usually involved taking some traffic paraphernalia, or in this case shopping carts...

We also happened to move out to Hong Kong for a few months...

Visited South East Asia where, as you can see, we were treated like celebrities...

On our travels we hit up crazy releases everywhere from Juice in Hong Kong...

To Bodega in Boston...

And saw some amazing works like the Michael Lau Crazy Force One exhibit...

Also had the chance to build with tons of great people, like Marcus Troy in Montreal...

Got to meet NERD at the BBC/ Ice Cream store ...

And if you ever had the chance to hang out with us, you know we like to have fun and act like idiots all the time...

Like when we had the BBQ of fake Jordans and Bape...

And when Meezy met the mysterious girl in the white dress up in Toronto...

Overall I just want to thank everyone who visits the blog, the brands that we have built such great relationships with, anyone who has retweeted a blog post, and all of the people who have taken time to listen to our ideas and help us build what we have. Special thanks to Yom and Joan for your help, you're coming with us on this ride.

So keep it locked to SwaggerDap, and I feel like a broken record, but you won't be disappointed with what we have in store.

1,000 posts and running...

The Graduation Hiatus

First I would like to give a quick apology to everyone who reads the blog for the short leave of absence that I have taken from posting. Don't worry, nothing is wrong and I'll be back posting on the regular tomorrow.
Second I would like to say congratulations to all of the graduates of Syracuse University in the class of 2009. And if you don't already know, that is the reason that I haven't been able to post, Graduation baby!

The Carrier Dome was rather packed as the Vice President happened to be our speaker.

We were all captivated, touched, motivated ...... and well .... Tweeting most of the time to be honest.

I'll be organizing more pics from the graduation to throw up here but for now I just wanted to let everyone know the deal. We back in here for fashion, art, and life, apologies again for the few days off.

Johnny Cupcakes vs. A Syracuse Sorority Ripoff

As mentioned in my previous post about the Johnny Cupcakes lecture at Syracuse, there is no space for fakes! Johnny went in for a while in the lecture about being ripped off and the legal battles and ended by bringing up that a certain sorority on our very own campus was guilty of ripping his design off this year. I see this tee shirt around campus all the time and even the font is ripped off to down to a tee.

Johnny assembled an angry mob of fans to march over to the violating sorority house and give en the business.
(Side contest, comment and guess if Meezy is a)singing b)burping c)yelling an ancient battle cry or d) yawning in the picture above. A chance to win exclusive breath enhancing prizes from SwaggerDap is at hand.)

After running over to the house, the girls wouldn't open up to an angry mob for some reason, but they were peeking through the windows to see what was going on.

Finally one of the girls who happened to be wearing the ripoff shirt showed her face, being welcomed to a bunch of "boo's" from the crowd. As you can see, Johnny was quietly making his point too.

The angry mob kinda turned into a laughing mob, but we still made our presence felt.

As a sort of a peace offering one of the girls gave him a shirt.

Everyone wanted him to light it on fire and cause a scene, but when one of your company credos is "Make cupcakes not war" it's probably a better PR move to be the bigger person here. He did make them agree to only wear the shirts as pajamas though so that they are never to be seen in public again. And since he has a whole new fan base in Syracuse now I'm pretty sure he will find out if they do. I know I'll twitpic it to him.

Thanks once again to Johnny Cupcakes for giving us a great and eventful evening at Syracuse. Hope you come back!
