Sanrio 50th Anniversary Art Show in Miami

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Sanrio has been on a pop-up road trip across the USA for the past month or so, and as that tour hits Miami (Dec 2-5), there is going to be an amazing Sanrio art show. Art Basel has commissioned 50 artists from around the globe to create some Sanrio inspired works that will be sold for charity...

I'm fucking LOVING these Sanrio inspired pieces, and only wish I could be in Miami to see them all. Most feature Hello Kitty, but I also see Chococat and Badtz-maru in there for the real Sanrio heads (don't ask me how I know these things). Here's a short taste of the artist line up: Shepard Fairey, Mike Shinoda, Niagara, Jason Alper, Adam Wallacavage, Mark Mothersbaugh, Richard Colman, and Seonna Hong. Not too shabby. And even though I doubt it will top this, I'm really excited to see what this Sanrio tour will bring to NYC on December 9th.

The exhibition will only be in Miami for 3 days (December 2nd-5th) and all of the proceeds will go to a Miami charity.

Eats: Hello Kitty Cafe (Seoul)

With so much love for food & restaurants, and always being on the search around the globe for amazing, affordable, and beautiful spots, it's only right that we share these journeys with you in a new segment called 'Eats'.

And for the inaugural Eats post, we're checking out the adorably awesome Hello Kitty Cafe in Seoul...

When you first walk past the Hello Kitty Cafe and catch a glimpse of its overtly pink facade set back from the main street, it's pretty clear that you must head inside and see what this is all about. And so like a moth to a light I was drawn in...

At first I really just wanted to take pictures but as I wandered inside and saw that nothing on the menu was much over a few bucks (₩5,000), I figured why not have a tasty treat. I happened to be craving something sweet, so I ordered a waffle covered in bananas, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup (above), which ran me a mere $2 and change. Having been to some gimmicky places before I expected nothing at all from the food, but to my surprise it was pretty damn good! The waffle was warm and freshly ironed, and each topping and garnish was perfectly placed. And upon looking at a few other items that people got, it was all the same quality. The drinks looked and sounded pretty amazing as well.

As for the interior of the place, in true Hello Kitty fashion the decor is 100% all Hello Kitty everything. Honestly no detail was left without a bow and whiskers, from the couches and tables all the way to the bathroom. Almost impressive how they are able to brand every single thing in the place.

Good atmosphere, good cheap eats. Thumbs up to Hello Kitty Cafe in Hongdae, Seoul.

Sanrio x Baby Milo Pop-Up Store NYC

As you should know by now, Baby Milo has joined the Sanrio family, and there are tons of products already out in Sanrio stores. And while most of that product is only available to Japan, there will be a Sanrio x Baby Milo pop-up shop at Bape NYC starting on the 28th of August.

Peep the entire collection here.

Can't lie, I'm kind of excited for this Sanrio collab to hit NYC, and in a totally heterosexual and non-pedophile way. The tees and sweats are solid, and those ApeStas are hot fire. And there will also be some nice Bapestas added to this collection.

Bape NYC will be the only retailer in the US to carry this collection, starting on August 28th.

Hello Kitty x Dr. Romanelli

Dr. Romanelli is normally dissecting and reconstructing goods like only he can, which got him the very fitting "doctor" moniker. Well now in teaming up with Hello Kitty, it seems that he's turned her into both the nurse and the patient to his madness, via some Medicom toys and tees...

I dig how everything is kind of walking the line of adorable and creepy. And those are definitely the cutest internal organs you ever did see!

The toys are the 4 you see and the shirts come in those 4 styles, in white, pink, and black for each. The Dr. Romanelli x Sanrio collection just released this weekend at Invincible, Taiwan.

Stussy x Hello Kitty Collection

Stussy and Hello Kitty has made its way to a perfect collaboration! In this collection, the Sanrio Hello Kitty came together with Stussy bringing you a series of t-shirts and accessories, including keychains and much more. This collection will drop on November 7th, but unfortunately, it'll only be released in Japan.

I absolutely think this is a perfect duo. I'm lovin' the black hoodie with the Hello Kitty graphic on the hood. The "Skate Tough You Little Boys" Tee is dope. I want to cop myself one, but they're only releasing out in Japan. Who's going to cop?! =)

Adventures in NYC: Back to SoHo

When you spend the majority of your time in Syracuse, NY, heading back down to NYC, even just to browse stores and see the streets is quite the treat. Well after a few months away it was back to good ole SoHo this weekend.

The Lou Reed x Supreme posters were plastered everywhere, and defaced in just about every location too.

The Stephen Sprouse graffiti was already taken off of LV sadly but there was still some decor left. Looked very nice.

Bape just released their neon Skullstas and OG colorway 88 Hi's.

Uniqlo has an awesome display in the front of their store where the mannequin seasonal models usually are. It is extremely miniature outfits from their Spring 2009 collection. Here you can see one of the fits.

The MAC x Hello Kitty was in full effect at the MAC store in SoHo. Very cool store front they have going.

Shots?

Then it was back home, in the nice cold rain.

Not pictured in the pair of Adidas x Jeremy Scott J.S. Wings that I picked up. A damn impulse purchase that I probably can't afford right now, but either way I'll post em up later.
