Clippings - KiD CuDi and Vashtie in Mass Appeal #50

Clippings is going to be a new segment on SwaggerDap where I give some shine to the forgotten world of print. I seem to amass a decent collection of magazines and catalogs so i'll be posting 'clippings' from these mediums, both new and old.

To kick it off, the 1st clipping is a throw back from one of my very favorite magazines, Mass Appeal. In issue #50, they introduced KiD CuDi as an underground artist to look out for, back when he was still on A-Trak's Fools Gold label...

The picture and issue are from early 2008, before the 10 Deep mixtape, way before GOOD music and before anyone had really heard of the man. He was on tour with Fools Gold, still spreading the word about Day n Night and partying his ass off. I remember when I saw Cudi rocking this angry face Bape crew neck in the mag, I instantly had to hear his stuff, and even tho Day n Night was pretty much his only song at the time on his MySpace, I was instantly hooked and a fan from there on.

And on a sadder note, this was Mass Appeal's 2nd to last issue, they had to shut down operations, so don't kill yourself trying to find one.

Kid Cudi ft Kanye West - Erase Me | Video

Kid Cudi just released the video for his first single "Erase Me" featuring Kanye. Peep the hilarity of the 60s stoner rock star visuals...

Kinda wish Kanye wasn't 'too cool' and just played along, but oh well, I still fucks with the video and the song.

Kid Cudi Live @ Bape NYC

Kid Cudi did a little last minute performance at Bape NYC last month, and now there is finally good quality footage of the show as well as some behind the scenes talks with Mr Rager himself...

Just two quick questions on this one:

1) REVOFEV is constantly stuck in my head. Am I the only one singing "WOOOoooAAAOOOOOooo" on the streets?? I can't be.

2) What ever happened to enjoying live shows? Seems like 9/10 people in the audience were too busy trying to record and take pictures to even have any fun. Or am I being an old man?

Rage.

Kid Cudi - Soundtrack 2 My Life Video

Maybe I'm just stanning at this point, but here is yet another great video from Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon album. It's Soundtrack 2 My Life, directed by Jason Goldwatch, and it is basically a journey on tour with Cudi over the past year or so. Some really sick footage in there...

Rage!

Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness Video | Alternate Version

Seems like Cudder is a big fan of releasing multiple music videos for the same song, and well, I'm a fan of that. Here we get look into a very different side of 'Pursuit of Happiness', as Kid Cudi goes for a more melodramatic and melancholy feel...

You need to install or upgrade Flash Player to view this content, install or upgrade by clicking here.

The original version was more of a solemn celebration that really captured the feel of the album being released, which I absolutely loved. However I do agree that this version captures the vibe of the song a little better.

Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

Kid Cudi Video Features - 'Symphonies' and 'Memories'

His album has been dropped but Kid Cudi has not stopped making noise. Aside from his part in a new HBO series (which has its own mixtape as well), he is featured on a few new songs, two of which recently released videos...

1st up, is Symphonies by Dan Black. The more introspective Man On The Moon Cudi appears on this track, along with an artsy ass video which pays homage to all generations of cinema. Well done. *clap, clap, clap*

The 2nd video is Memories by David Guetta. Far more upbeat (duh), and the video is also much more fun, somewhat reminiscent of the Day n Night video. I still really can't stand David Guetta, who tries way to hard to be cool, and is just waiting for a visit from Chris Hansen, but the track is decent (for a club) and the video is pretty funny.

BONUS - Cudder is Back (video)

Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness Video

Took me like 20 minutes to find a media player that actually worked for me, but finally, got to see Kid Cudi's video for Pursuit of Happiness and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Seriously fits the optimistic yet melancholy vibe of the song to perfection... just watch...

Cameos from Drake throughout and a quick one by Consequence. The video was also interestingly enough, produced by Josh Hartnett.

No stannery, I really love this video... Am I overreacting or is it that good?

Consequence ft G.O.O.D. Music - Whatever U Want (remix)

And it really does feature almost everybody on G.O.O.D. music! Consequence is joined by Cudi, Common, Big Sean, Kanye, and John Legends who each go for a few bars at a time on this crazy remix...

LISTEN/DOWNLOAD - Consequence ft G.O.O.D. Music - Whatever U Want (remix)

Especially considering how many artists are crammed on here, this was very well done. A nice refreshing format compared to the usual 16 bars per person, drawn out group remixes. This is on repeat right now.

Cons TV out soon!

Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon: The End Of Day

As you probably know, Kid Cudi's debut album "Man on the Moon: The End Of Day" is officially dropping today!

While I'm usually not on the music tip all that much on SwaggerDap, this is one of the few artists that I am 100% behind and really support the music, message, and art. I've had the album for about a week, it's still on repeat, and I'm still going to go out and grab the physical copy to support. Plus the artwork is dope.

You can grab the album from Amazon here: CD version // Special DVD Version

Amazon has a great digital DL deal right now, but you can also grab it on iTunes.

Support GOOD Music.

Kid Cudi - StreetLevel Interview

The people over at StreetLevel got Kid Cudi in the studio last week for chop it up about Bape, fashion, travel, skinny jeans, his upcoming HBO show and a ton more. (seriously a TON, it's a 40 minute interview) Enjoy...

One of the realest dudes out. No stannery but he's becoming one of me favorite artists period.

Kid Cudi - "Pursuit of Happiness" on Letterman with Ratatat

Last night Cudi got his very 1st appearance on the latenight scene as he performed his song "Pursuit of Happiness" featuring Ratatat on Letterman...

No stannery, but Cudi just makes me happy about music again, and he just looks like he is having fun doing it. I'm really happy that they picked Pursuit of Happiness for the show also, especially instead of Poke Her Face. Plus it was cool to see Ratatat rocking out with Cudder.

Kid Cudi - Day 'n Night (Unreleased Video by BBGUN)

I think there are now 3 versions of the video for this song now. The wack Crookers remix song and video that dropped 1st, then the improved video to the original version of the song, and now we have an even better video directed by BBGUN (who did Famous Girl)but unfortunately its to the Crookers remix again.

Follow me? Just watch...

And if you are NYC today make sure to check out the Kid Cudi listening session at the Bape store. All part of Fashion's Night Out.

Kid Cudi x Bape Tee for Fashion's Night Out

As mentioned, there will be a listening session for Cudi's new album during Fashion's Night out. Well here is that special product that was said to drop, an exclusive Bape x Kid Cudi tee...

To his credit, Cudi has been Baped out before the connect to Nigo and Kanye even came around, so the man deserves this one. And although simple, I'm really feeling the shirt, classic Bape.

So remember, September 10th. Fashion's Night Out. Be there.

EDIT: No image so not worth a post yet but BBC will be doing a Blue Print 3 tee shirt for the night to celebrate Jay's album dropping the next day. Pics soon.

Kid Cudi ft Kanye & Common - Poke Her Face (Video)

The 1st single off of Man on the Moon, this is the video for Kid Cudi ft Kanye and Common - Poke Her Face.

"Me first..."

Kind of like the video more than the song, but in any case I can't wait for this album to drop!

Kid Cudi - Heaven at Night (Video)

Here's the video for Kid Cudi's Heaven at Night off of A Kid Named Cudi, which dropped last year. Not exactly sure how long this video has been around for since the song is so old, but I just discovered it so it's new to me!

Video is clearly from back in the super emo Cudi days, while now he is just mildly emo. But honestly this is probably my favorite song, or at least competing for favorite, off of that classic mixtape.

10 Deep Presents: Kid Cudi "Up There" Tee Re-Release

After the wild success of A Kid Named Cudi last year, 10 Deep is re-releasing the mixtape and "Up There" tee that they had released for the occasion.

The tee was near impossible to get before so this is a nice second chance for Cudi fans, and a good way for 10 Deep and Kid Cudi to build some buzz before his album drops.

From 10 Deep:
"The tee, sold along with a hardcopy of the mixtape, will be available Wednesday, May 20th at 12pm EST at the 10Spot. We're keeping the quantities pretty limited again, so don't sleep. Big up to Kid Cudi, and keep checking for updates on his own blog at KidCudi.com."

Kid Cudi - Dat Kid From Cleveland (Mixtape)

Kid Cudi just released his second official mixtape called "Dat Kid from Cleveland" featuring some of the recent songs he has put out with a bunch of new tracks as well.

Download Dat Kid from Cleveland

Also on the tape is Wale, Kanye, Common, Consequence, 88 Keys, and Jackie Chain. I'm downloading it as a type this so I can't give a review but having heard a few of the tracks and knowing the potential the Cudi has, I am quite excited about this tape.
