Guess this is my obligatory post on Kanye's short film, 'Runaway', which premiered last night on MTV and is currently available to stream on Ye's site. And even though it's been out for less than a day, this film has the internet going nuts, with some hate, but mostly lots of love... which is the beauty of art.
My personal breakdown of the elements is that the overall art direction was very well done, stage and costume design were fucking impeccable, story was average, acting was poor, and the visuals were absolutely stunning. I went into it expecting pretty much exactly what I got and was satisfied (not blown away but very satisfied). Definitely most impressed with the cinematography and references to fine art though, especially if Kanye really did direct it all himself as it says. And aside from the small acting parts, the only thing that was off at moments to me was the music not really fitting the visuals. At points I wanted to be hearing an orchestra or opera performance, not a Beyonce hook.
So yeah that's my all over the place thoughts on what I just watched. I'd love to hear some more thoughts in the comments (where you can actually use more than 140 characters). Oh and g'looks to Zockon for the tons of screen caps.

Kid Cudi ft Kanye West - Erase Me | Video
Kid Cudi just released the video for his first single "Erase Me" featuring Kanye. Peep the hilarity of the 60s stoner rock star visuals...
Kinda wish Kanye wasn't 'too cool' and just played along, but oh well, I still fucks with the video and the song.

Kanye West - Power | Video
Yes this is a video for Kanye's new single Power, but don't get it twisted, it's not a music video! OK?! It's an experience, a moving portrait, that happens to have Kanye's Power playing in the background...
Yeah I honestly don't care that I'm a whole 4 days late on this; I haven't had internet and after watching this for the 3rd straight time this morning, I'm sublimely inspired. The visual is stunning. Directed by Marco Brambilla.
Not sure how Kanye stays so creative and inspired himself but it's really amazing watching this man create. He said that this album or the album after this will be his masterpiece, and a complete culmination of his work and career. Yeah as a fan if that doesn't get you excited to hear his album, nothing will.
And yes yes there was an uncensored version with bewbs, but it got taken down for the time being.
UPDATE: Peep the directors cut. trying to decide which I prefer now.

Consequence ft G.O.O.D. Music - Whatever U Want (remix)
And it really does feature almost everybody on G.O.O.D. music! Consequence is joined by Cudi, Common, Big Sean, Kanye, and John Legends who each go for a few bars at a time on this crazy remix...
LISTEN/DOWNLOAD - Consequence ft G.O.O.D. Music - Whatever U Want (remix)
Especially considering how many artists are crammed on here, this was very well done. A nice refreshing format compared to the usual 16 bars per person, drawn out group remixes. This is on repeat right now.
Cons TV out soon!

"We Were Once A Fairytale" Starring Kanye West, Directed by Spike Jonze
Check out this interesting short film starring Kanye West as himself. It's directed by Spike Jonze - the director of Where The Wild Things Are, Being John Malkovich, and more. It was originally the video for See You in my Nightmares off of 808s but turned into this full out film.
Some of the scenes made me a little uncomfortable. What do you think the theme was?
EDIT: Video was taken down by Kanye. No reason as of yet but I'm sure it'll be back when ready.

Kanye's Pastelle Line Cancelled
Yeeeeep. After we had the internet going nuts today over those Pastelle shots, we heard from a Pastelle rep regrettably telling us that the line has officially been cancelled. (Even though they were just looking for designers in LA on Craigslist a month or so ago)
We also unfortunately had to take those pictures down since they were from an old photo shoot from a few years ago and just recently leaked somehow.
He has been quiet about the line lately so it's not entirely surprising that it has been canceled, but I was looking forward to see what kind of clothing would come out of creative mind such as Kanye's. The varsity jackets were such a good start!
So disappointing, yes, but at least we won't be anticipating something that will never happen. Maybe Dr. Dre should take note? Yea that was just an unnecessary shot.

Pastelle by Kanye - Sneak Peek
KANYE STYLE CAPS LOCK EDIT: NOT TOO LONG AFTER I POSTED THIS, KANYE'S PEOPLE FROM PASTELLE HIT US UP ASKING TO TAKE THE IMAGES DOWN. APPARENTLY THE LINE HAS BE CANCELLED AND THE PHOTO SHOOT IS OLD. SORRY TO KANYE AND TO OUR FANS FOR HYPING IT UP WITHOUT HAVING MORE SOLID INFO. AND I HOPE KANYE DOESN'T SHIT ON ME IN ALL CAPS. IF YOU ARE JUST DYING TO SEE THE IMAGES, A BUNCH OF PEOPLE PROBABLY STILL HAVE THEM UP, LIKE MTV, BUT I HAD TO TAKE EM DOWN SINCE WE WERE THE SOURCE.
Kanye's line, Pastelle, which has been in the works for what seems like years now, finally has some lookbook style preview shots out. Which means that we could be seeing it finally launch sometime relatively soon...

No, it's not much, and yes I feel like we've already seen Kanye wear these pieces too award shows and whatnot, but it doesn't look too bad. The varsity jackets are very nice, can't decide which I like more. And the tiger pull over is what it is, not my style.
Wish I had more information on these or the line in general but I do not. And the Pastelle site (Past.Tell.Museum) is still static.

Drake ft. Kanye, Wayne, Eminem - Forever (video)
The much anticipated video for Drake's Forever has finally dropped. Featuring Kanye, Lil Wayne, and Eminem, the video was directed by Hype Williams...
The video has Lebron James all over it because the song was done for Nikes upcoming movie "More than a Game" which releases October 2nd and primarily chronicles Lebron's high school career.

Big Sean - Getcha Some (Video)
Big Sean has just released his 1st music video for lead single "Getcha Some" off of his upcoming freshman album, Finally Famous.
The whole video looks like it was shot at Bapexclusive in Aoyama and the new Bape Harajuku store, both in Tokyo and actually really close to each other. I'm a huge fan of Bape and all, but I think Big Sean went a little overboard on this one. It's like a damn Bape/ BBC advertisement.
Can you say GOOD Music.

Kid Cudi ft Kanye & Common - Poke Her Face (Video)
The 1st single off of Man on the Moon, this is the video for Kid Cudi ft Kanye and Common - Poke Her Face.
"Me first..."
Kind of like the video more than the song, but in any case I can't wait for this album to drop!

Louis Vuitton x Kanye West Sneaker Photoshoot by La MJC
The good people over at La MJC have gotten their hands on the Kanye West for Louis Vuitton sneaker collection and taken some really nice pictures on the streets of Paris. Honestly not much more to say so I'll let the pictures do the talking...
The colors, materials, and construction of these are all really beautiful. Nice pictures also in bringing that out.
The sneakers start to release on July 1st but you should already be on a wait list at one of the select LV stores to be having even a chance at spending wads of cash on these. So good luck! Can't wait to see these all over SoHo next week.
La MJC is an entirely French publication but to see more pictures and get your translate game on, go here.

Clipse ft Kanye - Kinda Like a Big Deal (Video)
There was a bunch of footage from behind the scenes last month in NYC, and now the video has finally dropped for The Clipse ft Kanye West - Kinda Like a Big Deal.
The video is really simple and really raw hip hop, I love it. And there won't be long before the next video as The Clipse and Pharrell are already shooting out in Cali for "I'm Good".

Kanye West - Paranoid Video ft Rihanna
After a really poor looking version dropped about a week ago (which some people still found hot), Kanye has now released the official video for Paranoid off of 808s and Heartbreak.
Starring Rihanna, the video seems to draw from old horror movies like Alfred Hitchcock's from the 50s and 60s. Really well done if you ask me.

Sneaker Circle with Kanye, Curt@!n$, Pusha T, Ibn, and Cudi
Straight from Kanye, straight from the Kinda Like a Big Deal video shoot in NY. Kanye shows off all of his sneaker models to Curt@!n$, Pusha T, Ibn Jasper, Kid Cudi, and a few others...
Curt@!n$ shows that he's still wet behind the ears, Ibn gets his snob on, Pusha gets tight that he doesn't own a pair of Yeezy's, and Ye says that he's bought more of his own shoes that anyone else!
I'm having a hard time deciding if I'd rather be in the hallway for that discussion or have all of those shoes shown. Hmmmm

Kanye West - Amazin' (Video)
The other day Kanye released the official video for his song Amazin' featuring Young Jeezy, of off 808's and Heartbreak.
One of my favorite tracks off of 808's it's just humble sounding version of a crazy ego boosting song. The video is absolutely epic and was shot in Hawaii beaches, ocean, and jungles.

Kanye West for Louis Vuitton Ads
The much anticipated sneaker collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Kanye West is slowly approaching release, and Kanye has gotten together with photographer extraordinaire Steve Shaw for some promo shots of his own to showcase the shoe and style he is going for.
1. I really love that he has taken the direction in his own hands with some very nice promo shots. (Not that LV would have fucked it up or anything since their advertising is amazing)
2. Everything looks great. Got to get my hands on at least one of these models over the summer.

Hype Means Nothing - Finger Glasses Tees
New label Hype Means Nothing is making some noise with its very 1st round of tee shirts which feature various celebrities making glasses with their fingers.
The full concept behind the shirts can be read below, but each has a celebrity making glasses with their fingers and in the bottom right has a description of the "glasses" and their price. there is also their cockroach logo on the front chest and bottom of the back with some very interesting stitching in the rear as well. Each shirt comes in black, white, and grey.
While these are the only ones up for sale at the moment, the collection also includes Jay-Z, Obama, Brittany Spears, Lil Wayne, Charlie Chaplin, Travis Barker, Brad Pitt, Playmobil, and Will Smith.
The HYPE MEANS NOTHING concept:
"Populating now your wardrobes like insects invading houses, the cockroach branded label doesn't have in mind to stop its invasion, even soon.
Hype Means Nothing and its first collection, a label in total opposition with its favourite playground since it uses "caricatures" to criticize all these people aiming at being actively involved in the Hype culture.
All these "wanna be", "wanna look like", wearing goggles to be hype....have now been made obsolete since the only thing needed now is a picture of an idol, wearing these so wanted goggles mimed with the hands, and wear it proudly.
This is the result that you get from a deep understanding of this trend among friends and contacts involved in the fashion business that these young designers decided to bring to life, as a first step, everybody's wish from simple designs AND higher quality materials that could be worn anywhere, anytime, no matter what the style is.
So, it's literally by focusing on these 2 key points that these 2 artists have decided to extend the panoplie and to develop other products. Your turn now ... make a wish...!
(So ... what are you dreaming of?)"
You can grab these HMN through colette.

Kanye & Crew on Southpark: They Love Fishsticks
In last night's episode of South Park, Kanye and company ... well mostly just Kanye I guess, was the main joke of the entire show. Taking STRAIGHT from the outfits from fashion week in Paris not to long ago, these characters were drawn pretty damn close to exact. Not much questioning who is who as (left to right) Taz Arnold, Fonsworth Bentley, Kanye West, Don C, and Chris Julian all appear in the episode as one bad-ass posse.
If you just want to watch the episode and hear nothing more, Watch Here (via miss info).
If you don't have 22 minutes to spare, the episode revolves around the joke "Do you like fishdicks (fishsticks)? ... Do you like to put fishdicks in your mouth? .... Then you're a gay fish!" ... a joke which in the episode Kanye just doesn't get and really wants to understand how that makes him a gay fish. He later kills Carlos Mencia and goes after Cartman and Jimmy, only to later accept that he may just be a gay fish and should accept it (as you can see in the last screen shot).
South Park, funny as always. Thanks to Miss Info Tv for the streaming episode.
