Not breaking news or anything, but on a little stroll through Shanghai's Xintiandi district I noticed an obnoxiously loud store front shrouded in Bape camo...
Xintiandi is a small walking district of Shanghai that has kept the small walking streets and passages exactly as they were back in the day. At the very end of Xintiandi is the Xintiandi mall, where Hong Kong fashion conglomerate IT recently opened one of their amazing high end IT department stores, an http://izzue.com, and now soon to be a Bape store (which is connected to the ground floor of IT on the outside of the mall).
STILL not date on the opening.

Union NYC Closing Its Doors
For every store opening, there is also one closing. And with over 20 years of NYC pioneering in the street wear scene it is time that Union NYC must say goodbye...
While some people complained that the store was too small or the staff were standoffish, there is no denying the huge impact that Union has had on the NYC scene. They are the only account for Visvim, Neighborhood, and W)Taps in the city, and even though they may seem too cool for it now, they were actually one of the very 1st BBC/ Ice Cream accounts ever. Definitely sad to see the store and the great brands that it carries leave SoHo.
I'll never forget their original store down the block, which was about the size of a closet. It was literally a struggle to move something on the racks since they carried so many brands in such a tight space. Then if you needed a size they had to lift up the floor and climb into the basement! Great stuff. haha
For a final "hooray!" they have teamed up with PegLeg NYC for this stars and stripes G-Shock. Their final collabo.... which Pharrell seems to be digging.
PS. I'm pretty sure that Union LA is separately owned and will be staying in business. So don't fret my Cali friends.

Self Edge NY - Opening July 24th
After a little Twitter hype and hinting through the past few months, saying that "NYC needs better denim", it seems that Self Edge has come to save the day!
As you can see, Self Edge NY will be sitting right in the Lower East side at 157 Orchard St., which is basically right next door to The Reed Space, and a few blocks from Alife.
If you aren't familiar with Self Edge, they carry top notch premium denims from around the world (mostly Japanese denim). Sugar Cane, Iron Heart, 3Sixteen, Nudie, and Imperial to name a few. Blue in Green has been taking care of denim needs in NYC for quite some time, but they now have some serious competition as of July 24th.

For the past 6+ months, Bape has been posted up in the Dover Street Market while the London shop was being redone. Well now the renovations are almost complete and the original Bape London will be coming back!
The new store opens on July 18th at 11am. I'm sure there will be some sort of special products for the event and an appropriate line up. London heads, be sure to take pictures!

Louis Vuitton Underground Store Tokyo
With yet another conceptual store in Tokyo, Louis Vuitton is opening their new Louis Vuitton /underground/ shop in the basement of a Ikebukuro Seibu Department Store.
Apparently the new retail space for Louis Vuitton in the Seibu Store is currently under construction and won't be ready for them until 2010. So, with this in mind LV decided to accept the construction and run with the theme. Taking the basement as their new home, the space is perfectly designed as a working warehouse with crates and forklifts used as product displays. The store should be running until late Fall.

Bape Store Niigata Reopens
To follow up on the news of the reopening of Bape Niigata, Nigo has just provided some pictures of the newly opened store.
As with every Bape store, the store design is another great minimalist effort from Japanese design firm Wonder Wall. (who's site is just as simple and creative as their stores).
Yet another Bape store. What recession?

Hong Kong Releases - Silver & Gold Bape 88s
After dropping in Japan and then NY, the Silver and Gold Bape 88s released this Sunday in Hong Kong.
I got there around 8am...I was lucky number 13...
Almost didn't get my size but someone was nice enough to trade numbers with me so I got the Siver Hi's as planned.
After waiting in line we all were brought into the store, which was completely empty, every sneaker off the shelves and all clothes off the racks. The only product visible was the 4 sneakers released which were displayed in the front of the store as almost a prize when you walked in. It took a little while of people trying sizes on and a scare when someone stole my 11 but all was good, a very smooth release.
The people waiting and the staff were both the nicest out of any drop I've been to, especially compared to certain NYC shops that will not be mentioned.
