Futura Laboratories - G-Shock & Bearbrick

Futura Laboratories is releasing a package with the help of G-Shock and the Kubrik Bearbrick. Since Hiroshi Fujiwara, Fragment, and the Uniform Experiment are also into the subtle rainbow designs I think we might just see more of it soon from other brands....

and apparently if your world is in black and white they look even more colorful.

Soon to be released at the Futura Laboratories store in Tokyo ... so yea ... good luck with that.

Takashi Murakami and Mr. @ Fabrik

After class the other day I went to check out the Murakami Exhibit at Fabrik with my boy Nillz. The space was pretty small but it was full of great pieces from Murakami, Mr., Damien Hirst, and Andy Warhol.
Here's some pics:

This is a Buddhist meditating so intensely that his head is bursting and eyes popping out. Pretty serious.

An amazingly detailed scene by Mr.

Some of his work for LV.

Then we snuck up to the top of a 32 story building to catch this view.

If you can make it out to Fabrik in the next few days I highly recommend it. The curator, Jurgen, was the man and talked with us for a while explaining pieces and telling us other exhibits to look out for in Hong Kong.

Marc Jacobs x Kaws

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Marc Jacobs line, they have teamed up with Kaws to release some very nice and extremely exclusive pair of ladies flats.

I can already see these being pulled off amazingly.

Uber limited to 150 pairs to be released at Colette Paris, Original Fake Tokyo, and Marc Jacobs SoHo and London flagships.
They come out tomorrow so ladies start lining up.

The Return of the Music Video?

So right next to fashion, we have an undying infatuation with music as well, and I am personally a huge fan of music videos. Wellll, good music videos that is, which are hard to come by sometimes, especially in the realm of hip hop.
But in the past 2 days I've seen 2 videos, from The Knux and Heltah Skeltah, that I have on repeat so I thought I should share.

The Knux - Bang Bang
These guys are uber indie so it's cool to see what they were able to do on that Interscope budget they have now. Nice West Side Story feel to it.

Heltah Skeltah - Ruck n Roll
This video is just hysterical to me. Directed by the one n only Rik Cordero, who used what looks like a basement, a handycam, and a 30 dollar budget for some wigs, somehow created this ode to a Rock video. Great.

"You fuckin' guys rock man.... we love you"

Benjamin Bixby is the new fashion line from none other than Andre Benjamin or more famously Andre 3000.

The line is fully backed and inspired by Mr. Benjamin and truly captures his look of fly yet classy throw back pieces.

The full line released last week at Harrods London and hit shelves in Barneys this week. Oh yea, be weary of the crazy price tags. Check their online store here.

Purple Vaider & Blue Skytop Released

After a relatively subtle set of colorways last season, Supra starts this year off with some bold solid colors. Here are the Purple and Gold Vaider along with the Blue Tiger Skytop.

These kinda came out of nowhere and are already hitting many Supra accounts, so check your local spot for details.
Also, there are some nice red n yellow, purple accented, and silver colorways set to drop soon as well, so keep it locked.

Runway to Change

So I've realized that we post a decent amount Obama content on this blog. We aren't trying to push political views or anything here, so don't take it wrong. It's just that this man is inspiring a lot of people to do a lot of really cool and creative stuff that no one has ever seen before from a political figure.

The new project from the Obama camp is Runway to Change, which brought together some of the top designers and artists in the world to make some tees and totes supporting Mr. Obama's cause.

Change by Jay-z

Obama Stands Out by Pharrell Williams

Vote Hope by Tory Burch

America Deserves Better by Russel Simmons

Obama Button Tote by Marc Jacobs

There is much more in the online store from the likes of Vera Wang, Juicy Couture, Beyonce, Rag and Bone, Isaac Mizrahi, and many more. Everything made in the US.

Oh and there's also a Yes We Can CD with Kanye, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Maroon 5 and many more.

Well that's enough politics on SwaggerDap for the time being.

Stay up America.

Uniqlo Introduces Wakamaru

Uniqlo has recently introduced Wakamaru, a robotic staff member, to it's New York store.

Wakamaru is a "walking" talking and thinking member of the staff who's job is to greet and inform the customers on anything going on in the store. Aparently you can also have some basic conversation with her as she shows you around the store.

Pretty cool and innovative on Uniqlo's part as they teamed up with Mitsubishi for the project. As of now Wakamaru is 1 of 1 and resides in SoHo only.

To find out more about the project and to read Wakamaru's blog (yes it is actually updated by the robot, with some assistance I'm sure) check out NewYork-Tokyo.com

Y-3 Footwear a/w 2008

Y-3 always come strong with the footwear and this season is no exception.

As always, a predominantly black collecting using some cool materials and designs. The boots especially look crazy to me, but I'm not sold on those Michael Jackson looking trainers.

Visit your local Y-3 store and select y-3 accounts to purchase

Kidrobot Dunny Series 5

Each series of Dunnies keeps getting better and better as Kidrobot reaches out to more artists for inspiration.
Series 5 is no exception, here's the preview.

Some really nice peices here from the likes of Reach, Mishka, Devilrobots, and many more.

Total of 19 in the series but you never know, there are always the mystery selections. Available now for $6.95 in blind assortment as always through Kidrobot.

Junya Wantanabe Duffle Coat

Junya Wantanabe and Comme des Garçons have teamed up with top coat makers Gloverall for a nice toggle duffel coat.

The results, pretty good. The leather patches on the arms and shoulders are very nice and the standard toggle and hood make this a go to jacket in my opinion. As of now looks to be in navy only.

Check your local Comme des Garçons account soon.

Kidrobot x Obama

The whole street fashion game is supporting this man, here's the new KidrObama design from Kidrobot.

According to KR it's made of Hope and screen printed cotten.... the back simply reads YES.

Cop now through Kidrobot.com or at any of their stores.

South East Asia - The Hiatus

So as Meez stated, we boogied around Asia for a few weeks, visiting Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and of course our home for the next four months, Hong Kong. The trip was an unreal experience and we saw some amazing as well as some reckless shit out there.

Here are just a few pics...
HK Victoria Peak
SwaggerDap is for the kids .... in Thailand
we got rained on....
chilled with elephants....
slept on a lot of buses ....
got sick ....
saw some of the tallest buildings in the world...
and on the last night in Singapore we partied with Jin
Yeah the trip around South east Asia was nuts, and now we are back in Hong Kong for four months more of this madness.

So the blog is back now to continue provide you with quality entertainment and information. Stay tuned and keep a look out for Hong Kong updates as well, its an interesting scene out here.

-john-

Where the hell are them SwaggerDap dudes at?!

Yooooooooooooo....

So this is probably the longest drought we've ever had on all yall.

As Mr. Factz beautifully put it
"While you on a chinatown bus//I'm out in Hong Kong, wit Chinatown sluts"

Sincere apologies; but its seems as though we've been out in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpar, and Singapore for the past few weeks! And we still gonna be out here in Hong Kong until Decemeber!!

Just give us a few more days or maybe even a couple more hours to get a bit more settled in; We promise, all the crazy pics will start going up and we'll continue to update you on the latest in the fashion world.
