Futura 2000 - Artist Profile | Video

Stumbled upon this great artist profile of Futura 2000, in which he goes pretty far back to his start as an NYC graffiti artist as a kid, and the general progression of his work and reach. Also talks of where his obsession with aliens came from, and how that developed into his famous point men characters. Then wraps up with a solid few minutes discussing his addiction to gaming...

I feel like a broken record for just saying this about the Ambush interview, but it is just always great to get into the minds and humble origins of these legendary artists and creators.

If you are somehow unfamiliar with Futura 2000, he started as a NYC graffiti artist but has grown to be one of the most respected in his field, having done multiple works for the likes of Nike, Bape, his own apparel label (Futura Laboratories), music artwork for UNKLE and The Clash, and tons more.

BONUS: Video of Futura's functional "District 9" inspired weaponry made entirely of Legos

Faces in the Crowd: Ezra in Boston

You might remember the store profile of Re-Up in Boston the I did a month or two ago. Well I had planned to Faces in the Crowd the man who gave me the rundown of the entire store at the time but I had my notebook jacked and never got the chance. Well now that the notebook has been returned, here you go...

Name: Ezra
Age: 18
Reps: Boston
Occupation: Student
Favorite Brands: Diamond Supply Co., New Era, Vans, Fiberops
Wearing: Hat - New Era
Shirt - Futura
Jeans - Edwin
Kicks - Vans x Robert Williams Skate Hi

Thoughts on Boston's fashion scene: "I think it's developing rapidly over the past few years. Love seeing the growth and interested to see where it goes from here"

Thanks to Ezra one more time for sitting down with me and make sure you check out the good folks at Re-Up next time you are in Boston.

Futura Laboratories Incense Holder

Seems like this is the year to come out with your own incense holder as we've seen a few in the past few months already. The latest being Futura coming out with his very original designed wooden incense holder.

It's great to see these brands slowly come out with household accessories as they continue to expand their product offering past just apparel. This scene is very much so becoming a lifestyle more than than a fashion.

This very cool incense stand is available at the FL Shop in Japan but you never know it might make its way stateside to some of the more premium Futura accounts.

Futura Laboratories - G-Shock & Bearbrick

Futura Laboratories is releasing a package with the help of G-Shock and the Kubrik Bearbrick. Since Hiroshi Fujiwara, Fragment, and the Uniform Experiment are also into the subtle rainbow designs I think we might just see more of it soon from other brands....

and apparently if your world is in black and white they look even more colorful.

Soon to be released at the Futura Laboratories store in Tokyo ... so yea ... good luck with that.

Futura Laboratories x Descente Jackets

Here we see some new work from Futura Laboratories as a collab with Japanese performance label Descente for a line of jackets.

Everything from winter jackets

light wieghts

and even windbreakers

The lighter jackets feature artwork from Futura while the down jackets feature it as an inner lining.

All nice (and most likely pricey) but that white jacket especially has my eye. Definitely wish these came out in the fall rather than the spring.

Available April 9th on Stless
