Super s/s 2011 Core Collection

Super hits us with their upcoming Sprng/Summer 2011 line, and with great breadth is able to offer something for everyone...

From the colorful frames and unique styles to the simple silhouettes, Super has got it all covered this season. Personally I still think the simple shapes and patterns, like tortoise shell, are the cleanest and what make Super so fantastic, but they definitely pack a lot of personality into each pair they design. I just posted my favorites, so be sure to peep the Super blog for the entire season worth of shades.

Good Wood x Ease DaMan - Wooden Bullet Shades

Good Wood NYC and Ease DaMan have gotten together to do a pair of wooden camo shades with a whole line up of bullets running down the sides...

Pretty sure I remember these being called the Full Wooden Jacket frames, but not sure if that's the official name of the project. But Ease will be keeping us updated on the project which should be out soon.

And if you aren't familiar with Ease, he does big things for Mishka, and is also pretty well known for simply being the absolutely outrageous person that he is. But don't let him fool you, dude is damn smart... and pretty entertaining on twitter, @Ease_DaMan.

Super - Leather Wrapped Flat Tops

The Super Flat Top has arguably become their most popular model, and for the Fall it will be getting the full leather wrapped treatment...

Haven't jumped on the Flat Top bandwagon as of yet, but the brown and orange pairs are making me want to! However the hiked up $370 price tag on these might keep a few people from picking them up this Fall. Keep a look out for these at top Super accounts in the coming months.

Super s/s 2010

Super has been killing it over the past couple of years, and with this Spring/ Summer 2010 collection, are showing no signs of slowing down that pace. They've cut some of the loud and 80s inspired silhouette from the line, and added 4 new, simple, and elegant models.

Their staple models of Classic, Flat Top, and Ciccio (above) get the safari/ cheetah treatment for the Summer. Need em.

On to the new fellas...

"The People: slightly smaller-framed and thin yet meticulously designed piece which combines smooth curves with sharp and sudden angles and almost circular lenses with long geometrically squared-shaped arms.
The People is able to satisfy a large variety of different styles (thus the name), simultaneously be a chic and tasteful gentlemen piece when in havana glitter; or be a unique retro look when in our jungle Summer Safari version; or a simply and sensually feminine when in our light savannah acetate and lens.
"

"Andrea: surprisingly simple yet stylish piece of unisex eyewear. This specific design came about while researching an avant-garde look that would simultaneously be an instant classic, a piece that was cutting-edge and cool enough for the trend leaders as well as a more mainstream consumers.
We therefore took our established classic flat top shape and eliminated the bottom acetate, revealing a refreshing futuristic lens and look. By combining classical acetates such as our signature Havana and Summer Safari tortoise combos (just to name a few) we gave it a very chic look while stripping the piece to its essentiality and function. Less is more.
"

"Lucia: designed for women, characterized by a petit and extremely thin frame, yet boasts an extremely strong design and Giotto-esque round lens.
This is amongst the most experimental of our season’s designs, nonetheless maintaining a surprising classic simplicity.
Feeding the fashion-hungry women, this sunglass comes in a selected variety of combinations and is of an extraordinary elegance and lightness.
"

"W: Inspired by the unique style of late 70’s italian design, such as our favorite, Marcello Gandini, to name one.
The W represents our retro-futuristic style to perfection, yet also offers a basic simplicity in its design. The W was designed all in one line, maintaining all angles square, to the point that the arms don’t even curve. It is sought of as the new classic shape of the future.
"

While the Classic and Ciccio are still their strongest pieces, the People and Andrea are some great additions to the line. I can see the People sticking around. The Lucia would look perfect on the right ladies and the W is just screaming to be in a music video. Mark my words.

Each comes in a bevy of colors, so be sure to check the entire collection through the Super site.

Super Sunglasses Launches Kids Line

I've seen your kids. Well maybe not YOUR kids, but in general kids exist and I see them all around. So I also constantly see how poorly they dress on a daily basis, and it's frustrating! So if you have a kid, or have a niece, or a little brother, that is a sad fashion victim, maybe you should start getting them on the right track with some nice shades.
Super is releasing its 1st line of children's sunglasses this year (suggested 4-10 year olds), so that the little ones can look good and still retail their youth with some nice colors and styles...

"It all came as a natural evolution, after all, they were the source of our initial inspiration. We didn’t want to reach any compromises. We didn’t want to make a cheaper product, as one may expect a kids line to be. We demanded they mount top-quality Carl Zeiss lenses. We curated the product in every aspect and detail, specifically tailoring it for a child’s necessity. We are proud to present our first ever Super kids collection! We created them for the parents a few years back, now it’s time for the kids to look sharp…get ‘em before they grow up!"

Saving the boring grown up stuff for the adults, Super is just releasing their classic silhouette for the kids in 12 fun colorways. Take a look at all of them here, where they are already for sale, for just under $100 USD.

A HUGE risk, but I love when brands try to reach out to the children's market and always hope that since we are an aging market, that the lines will catch on. So good luck to you Super!

Tom Ford s/s 2010 Eyewear Ads

For me, what Junya Watanabe is to ready-to-wear, Tom Ford is to eyewear; I fall in love with collection after collection but own no pieces because of the price points. Last year I came close to buying a pair but couldn't pull the trigger, however with the way things look this season I'm not so sad anymore.
This new ad campaign features both mens and womens sunglasses and sight glasses, as modeled by Carolyn Murphy and Nicholas Hoult...

The photoshoot is so so perfect, and the eyewear looks great! The mens sunglasses in the 1st picture and the womens in the 3rd picture stand out the most to me. And I'm also starting to fancy the last 2 sight glasses with the extra thick frames for the ladies... at least I'm pretty sure it's the glasses that I'm liking so much and not just the pictures.

If you enjoy eyewear like this, you should check out williamyan, where I got this from and where there is always great eyewear content, as well as much more fashion from the NYC streets.

Super x Liberty Sunglasses

After a really impressive collaboration with Nike for some blazers, Liberty has now gotten together with my favorite sunglass people as of late, Super for a few pairs of their staple model of shades.

Using the same 3 patterns as the Nike collab, these glasses are technically unisex but look a little more feminine than the blazers did. For the ladies, I am loving these.

You can grab them exclusively from Liberty in the UK and from the Liberty online shop.

DURKL x Sabre Vision Sunglasses

Our good friends over at Durkl are teaming up with Sabre Vision for a couple pairs of great summer sunglasses.

DURKL and Sabre Vision are producing a limited edition run of the “Psychotic Reaction” model, redoing the shape in 2 unique colorways (yellow/iridescent lenses and blue/fire lenses) with the lenses receiving a subtle DURKL branding as well. The shades will be released in small allocations to both brand’s top accounts, as less than 100 pairs were produced. Summer school is now in session.

Set to drop later this month, keep it locked on SwaggerDap for the official release date and locations.
