Japanese Cartoon - Heirplanes | Video

Lupe's Brit punk band, Japanese Cartoon has just dropped a second video from their recently released "In the Jaws of the Lords of Death" album. Directed by New York's master of visuals, 13th Witness...

Perfect scary movie feel, I digs. And our good pal Ibe was the drummer in the video (although he was wearing a mask, he was in the credits so have to believe him).

And you can catch up with Japanese Cartoon material by checking the album, and their 1st video, ARMY.

False x Japanese Cartoon

Remember that Japanese Cartoon album that Lupe dropped last month? Well Le Messie and False have collabed with Lupe and Japanese Cartoon for a set of hardcore hand printed tees and crew necks...

As always the craftsmanship and artwork is all hand done to perfection like only Le Messie can do it. And if you aren't up on Japanese Cartoon definitely peep the free album.

You can grab these bad boys right now at the False Shop.

Japanese Cartoon - In the Jaws of the Lords of Death (Album)

Finally, after a year and a half of waiting (by me at least), the Japanese Cartoon album is available for free download!

All you gotta do is go to AllSabotage.com, register, and the link is yours. There are also packages for $25, $65, and $150, that include respective goodies and super awesome Japanese Cartoon paraphernalia. And honestly for what you get, they're kinda worth it.

The only slight let down is that 5 of the 9 tracks on the album had already been leaked for a year+, but for a free download with some fresh art work, I ain't complaining.

Oh and if you just read all this and are still asking "Who the fuck is Japanese Cartoon?!?", they're Lupe Fiasco's British punk rock band. Get familiar here.

Japanese Cartoon Fan Club Shirts (by Trilly and Truly)

As you may remember not too far back I introduced you to the post-punk British band with a mysterious background called Japanese Cartoon. Well now as buzz continues to build on the band they are releasing 2 limited t-shirts with Trilly & Truly for their fan club.

So the scoop is that there are a Trilly & Truly collab, only 50 of each design, and they are available only through AllSabotage.com. You must first sign up for the fan club, they instantly send you a password, and then you have access to the store. I just got the email about this yesterday so there are still shirts available right now if you hurry.

Japanese Cartoon - ARMY (Video)

About a month ago I told you about British rock band Japanese Cartoon and the story behind them. and gave you a little taste test of their stuff. Well not they have released their 1st music video for the song ARMY.

With a really chaotic and post apocalyptic feel to it, the video matches up with the song quite well I think.

This project, although mysterious is one of the very few that I am really looking forward to hearing an album from. So best believe I'll be updating on any news on these guys.

And once again if you need to play catch up, go here.

Japanese Cartoon

While the back story is still quite shady, new British post-punk alt rock band, Japanese Cartoon has been coming out with some really good new material lately and is even featured on the brand new site for Trilly & Truly.

(Japanese Cartoon artwork by Nathan Cabrera)

So the reason that the background is somewhat shady is because Japanese Cartoon is part of 1st & 15th records and as previously mentioned is featured on the Trilly & Truly site (both of which are run by Mr. Lupe Fiasco). On top of that the vocals from Japanese Cartoon which are allegedly done by "Percival Fats" sounds quite a bit like Lupe himself (possibly with a phony British accent?).
However, even with all of this said, both Lupe and Japanese Cartoon have denied any collaboration in the music and state that Lupe is nothing more than a backer.

If you have visited the Trilly & Truly site (pictured above) or Japanese Cartoon's myspace to listen to some of their tracks, there is an undeniable similarity to Lupe's vocals, which a mere British accent can't mask. But please be the judge yourself.

Well regardless of who the singer is, the group actually makes some really good music so be sure to give them a listen.
Here's an up to date Japanese Cartoon starter kit for you all:

Japanese Cartoon - Crowd Participation
