Tokyo Trip

This week is Golden Week in Japan, which basically means almost everyone in the country is off work for 3 days. This also means that almost every goes somewhere for those 3 days.

We decided to go and visit my best mate who lives in Tokyo.

First night we had a BBQ and got completely wrecked. The next day we went to Harajuku which was the busiest I have ever seen it in my 10 years of visiting Japan.

Here are a few pics. Enjoy!

The view at one of the service stations we stopped at! Awesome!

No greasy spoon cafe's here

I spotted Mount Fuji at another service station stop

Waiting in Shinjuku

The BBQ gets underway

Beer and meat and some random Japanese Spirit. All you need for a good night.

Now we are cooking!

These were really nice, but my friend said they were the most disgusting thing he has ever tasted lol

Next day and Ramen was on the menu

The New Murakami'd LV store on Ometosando Dori, Harajuku

Awesome looking store

The NSW store on Neko Dori

The Adidas Originals store is 2 down

Harajuku crossing with the new H&M and Forever21 stores in the distance.

We couldnt get into H&M or Forever21 as they both had 3 hour queues!!

As I said, it was the busiest ive ever known it.

I always like to play "Spot the Star Trak Sticker" when ever im in Harajuku. This is a new one I found lol

Lots of people sent flowers to congratulate Carhartt on their new store opening, including Nigo, Stussy, Bounty Hunter and others.

A shot of the inside of the store

The LOVE statue in Shinjuku

Limited EDT 2 in Harajuku. I love this shop, I always want pretty much every shoe they have!

Burger King Terriyaki Whopper. Only in Tokyo so I had to have one. It was great :D

The Mode HAL School building. Great design.

SwaggerDap x Durkl - Kool Aid Chug & Tee Shirt Giveaway

So after getting some S.W.A.G., our boy Mikey wanted a free Durkl shirt... but we told him that he had to earn it. Conveniently, he wanted the "Drink The Cool-Aid" shirt, so we told him he had to do just that - drink the Kool-aid! Below is the madness that occurred....

.

A pitcher of Kool-Aid in 3 minutes.

As you can see he wasn't really feeling great after he finished...

... but once he got the shirt, things were alllllll better.

Props to Durkl and the kid Mikey Mohawk for making this all possible.

More giveaways and madness to ensue soon..... I promise.

Undercover x Comme des Garçons - Summer Madness Tees

Two of the most respected fashion brands out of Japan, Comme des Garçons and Undercover (neither of which have a website oddly enough), have teamed up for a few "Summer Madness" tees for Summer 2009.

Really simple and summer themed, I am loving the 1st all black and white one. The shirt reads "Undercover 4 Comme des Garçons" so check out Comme des Garçons accounts, especially in Asia, for these tees.

Artist Profile - Net from Kyoto

On my random perusing of the net in search of things that interest me, I randomly stumbled upon this artist Net out of Kyoto, Japan. Unfortunately Net's site is completely in Japanese so it was difficult to get much information but I did translate as much as possible and got the names of the works.

飛蚊 (Floater)

マーブル (Marble)

仲直り (Reconciliation)

降水確率90% (Chance of rain 90%)

オニノコ (ONINOKO)

Something about all of Net's work just brings awesome slightly surreal visuals that really hit me. Net's entire catalog is on the site, and definitely worth checking out. From what I've gathered Net is a student artist from Kyoto but can't really find much more. I would love to find more and even be able to buy prints so if anyone knows more or can read the Japanese off of the site, let me know!

A Random SwaggerDap Photoshoot

The other day we helped out one of our friends, Katie , with a photo project that she had for a class. The project was to follow Meezy around and document his life through images. This was just one part of the project, and the pictures came out looking awesome...

Leaders of the new school.

Hadooooookin!

Almost dropped his new 8900... close call.

Corny, but kinda had to do it :-/

Maybe we can get the whole slide show up on the blog too. "My friends call me Meeeeeeeeeeeeeezy"

Supra TK Society Pro Model Releases

A few months back we saw the initial pictures of Terry Kennedy's pro model for Supra. Now Supra has finally announced an official release and the 2 colorways that will be dropping.

The TK Society Pro Model will be dropping internationally on May 17th at select Supra accounts, so hit up your local dealer.

HighSnobiety caught up with TK for a nice interview about the shoe, clothes, skating, and how he hooked up with The Fly Society and Curren$y.

From Terry:
"The shoe was probably already 50 percent done already the first time I saw it. It was a high, already had the two straps, but there were a lot of things we started to change. We changed the sole on it. It was a cup sole at first, so we changed it to a vulcanized sole which skates better, because I wanted to make something that I was comfortable skating in, but at the same time was fashionable. Then we hid the laces, tucked em in so when you skate ‘em your laces don’t rip. Then we put a special sock liner on the inside, so when you slide your feet in it hugs your feet. That’s why people trip when they put it on, it’s so comfortable.

I like to strap em when I skate in ‘em, give my ankles some support. Then when I’m not skating I like to rock ‘em unstrapped, with the straps just flaring out, get the swagger going."

Christian Rich - Famous Girl (Video)

After an epic trailer left us curious and anxious, the video for Christian Rich's lead single "Famous Girl" has finally released and lives up to the expectations...

A very surreal and disturbingly awesome story with some really eerie visuals, the video brought me to the creepy feeling of Eyes Wide Shut, which I loved. Shot by BB Gun.

If you've never heard of the boys Rich, check out this post for their second single, as well as a quick description.
