"Our camel duffel coat is crafted of a textured wool body. It features custom leather and wood toggles, a full length zipper closure, a removable hood, quilted shoulders and side-entry flap pockets. The coat is fully lined with satin and has polyfill stitched in for additional warmth. The fully finished interior also features two besom pockets for additional storage."


"Our Pin Dot Cardigan features a slim fit, button-up cuffs, and ticket pocket detailing. It’s made of a cotton ribbing with an abstract pin dot pattern, which allows it to stretch the way a yarn knit cardigan would."


"We collaborated with Quoddy Trail to develop this custom silhouette exclusively for 3sixteen. They also feature a full leather vamp, nickel eyelets, and a handsewn lock-stitched tip and kicker. Due to the nature of the leather, the shoe may feel stiff at first. Make sure the shoe fits tightly as the leather will break in and soften nicely with wear as it molds to your foot. Handmade in Maine."

3sixteen Weekender Kit

Consistently stepping it up and becoming one of the classiest in the game, 3sixteen has just taken a small step outside of apparel and introduced a very nice 3-piece Weekender Kit.





The weekender kit comes complete with a duffel bag, toiletry bag and a small toiletry set (shampoo, conditioner, shave lotion, body wash, and a scented candle). The canvas bags are perfect for a weekend get and as carry on luggage. Gotta love the simple and classy design that 3sixteen is slowly perfecting.

Self Edge NY - Opening July 24th

After a little Twitter hype and hinting through the past few months, saying that "NYC needs better denim", it seems that Self Edge has come to save the day!



As you can see, Self Edge NY will be sitting right in the Lower East side at 157 Orchard St., which is basically right next door to The Reed Space, and a few blocks from Alife.

If you aren't familiar with Self Edge, they carry top notch premium denims from around the world (mostly Japanese denim). Sugar Cane, Iron Heart, 3Sixteen, Nudie, and Imperial to name a few. Blue in Green has been taking care of denim needs in NYC for quite some time, but they now have some serious competition as of July 24th.

Wardrobe Essentials: The Military Jacket

Every once and a while when I'm getting dressed and just can't decide what to wear, in the back of my mind I know that there is that staple item that I can always fall back on. While some people consider white tees and clean boxers to be the staple essentials, I'm talking more about fashion essentials than survival essentials. So for the sake of this blog I'm going to call these items the "Wardrobe Essentials". In this segment I'll try and highlight a piece that should be somewhere in everyone's closet, starting this week with the military jacket.

Over the past few years many brands have been taking vintage military jackets and reinventing them or adding their own flair. The most popular model seems to be the M65, which came out in 1965 fittingly, for the Vietnam War. However my model, shown in the pictures, is actually a M42 Jump Jacket which was used in World War II by paratroopers.
These jackets are all a single layer of heavy weight cotton that was able to keep the soldiers warm but also mobile. As you can see below, even though the jacket is made to fit well so as to not get caught on anything, there are vents and pleats on the shoulders and back that still allow for range of motion.



While some companies go OG and use straight vintage jackets, there are many more that choose to reproduce these jackets and add their own flairs (stars, patches, name tags, buttons), as you can see with the custom patches below on my BBC M42.



Finally, probably my favorite part about these military jackets, is the pockets! Since soldiers had so much to lug around everywhere, these jackets are almost all equipped with tons of pocket space. While mine are all on the front, there are many models that features pockets on the arms as well.
Great for days when you don't want to carry a bag but still need all of the essentials. Headphones, check. Charger, check. Sunglasses, check. DS, check.



And how you wear the jacket is all up to you, it can be dressed up or down depending on the style. And the real beauty is that it can really be worn basically year round. While it's perfect for the Fall and Spring months, it also works on cool Summer nights and with some insulation can be pulled off in the Winter as well. (Except in Syracuse, you need something far more fierce for the Winter there)

3sixteen Fall 2009 Photoshoot

After an amazing Spring 2009, 3sixteen returns with a video teaser to a Fall 2009 collection that looks just as amazing.

The video itself is very well done, as well as the collection. The jackets really look great and I'll definitely be checking a few of those out come Fall time. Can't wait to see the full lookbook in the near future.

3sixteen - Spring '09 Outerwear Release

After the buzz built with their Spring 2009 Lookbook, 3sixteen is now releasing some of the very nice outerwear pieces that were featured.

The Double-Breasted Jacket "Constructed of a mid-weight khaki canvas, this cropped peacoat is what we'd consider a wardrobe staple - something that will maintain space in your closet for years to come. Although it's unlined, you'll find that every seam is finished with bengal-stripe oxford shirting."


The Monsoon Jacket "The first iteration was released in our Holiday 2007 line and remains to this day our all-time best selling jacket we've made. For Spring 09 we've updated the fit - it's been slightly slimmed out and though we've added a bit of length to it, the piece is still meant to be a high-waisted M65 variant. The jacket comes in two colors: khaki and black."


3sixteen understands the importance of form and function with the use of mid-weight khaki and nylon blends in the respective jackets, as well as adding vents, pockets, and lining to make them that much more perfected.

3sixteen - Spring 2009

3sixteen is one of those brands that I'd always see in great stores like The Reed Space and never understand what was so special about them. More or less a tee shirt line with basic designs, all very dark and somewhat Gothic driven.
However in the holiday '08 collection I was pleasantly surprised to see the direction that they were going, and now with this upcoming Spring '09 preview I am convinced that 3sixteen has an entire new direction as a serious player in this game. Take a look.








The season is completely grown up with tons of nice cut & sewn pieces. I think they did a good job keeping the prep and proper all American look while still paying attention to detail and fine tuning the garments to perfection.
