The Kid Daytona – Come Fly With Me (Album)

After getting you all hyped about it from the listening party, we now present to you The Kid Daytona's album "Come Fly With Me".

DOWNLOAD - THE KID DAYTONA - COME FLY WITH ME
(you can peep the track list here)

"The flight path leading to the release of Come Fly With Me has been a long one. The Kid Daytona attained early success when his group The Aces was signed toAtlantic Records in 2002. Though the group dismantled shortly thereafter, Daytona managed to establish himself in the eyes of legendary MC Busta Rhymes, who quickly enlisted the young artist for a role in Flipmode Squad. In addition to Busta Rhymes, Daytona has also been blessed with the guidance of Cipha Sounds (Hot 97 WQHT), who has helped create the dynamic artist that appears on Come Fly With Me. Daytona and Cipha started out by releasing A Tribe Called Fresh in 2008, which garnered the attention of major media outlets like The Fader. Daytona explains that, “the success of the Tribe tape helped me realize it was time to put an official album together. I want people to be able to hear my music, and this is best way for me to make that happen – by making it available, and doing it well.”

On Come Fly With Me, The Kid Daytona shares airspace with musical superstars such as Bun B (UGK), Kardinal Offishall, and seasoned newcomers such as Mickey Factz, Amanda Diva, Harlem's Cash,Outasight, and more. Production credits for the album include 6th Sense, Double 0 (Kidz In The Hall), Cook Classics, Jet Audio, Ill Bomb, The Government, and Deputy."

Visvim official site launch

From Hiroki's Blog

With the growth of the internet, the world around us has changed very quickly.

Communities and markets that share a similar concept of value are no longer bound by national borders or language.

What sort of platform would be ideal for the dissemination of information?

What kind of website would be inherently Visvim?

It has all finally come together.

July 1st at midnight in Japan will mark the start of visvim.tv.

Mysterious AI x Adidas - Evil Superskates

Adidas just keeps killing it with these recent collaborations. Their newest is their Superskate model made evil by UK illustrator Mysterious AI.

From the artist:
"Mysterious Al Adidas Superskates!Featuring evil glow-in-the-dark stripes, bonkers all-over print insides, hidden satanic references, cursed footbeds and custom-cut mummy head tongues!"

These look awesome, I am loving the little details and how he turned the tongue into a mummy with the laces wrapping him up. So obvious but so genius. The glow in the dark accents should be sweet at night also.

Releasing July 3rd, assumingly at select Adidas accounts and stores.

Bape x TePe Toothbrushes

Bape just keeps digging deeper and deeper into your everyday life, this time coming out with some top notch toothbrushes produced by Swedish oral hygiene gurus TePe.

Nigo is really good about putting as little information as possible with his teaser pics but the gold toothbrush is actually coated in 24k gold, which leads me to believe that the silver is made similarly. And possibly the monogram black brush will the be affordable one made of plastic? Please?

Time will tell, and you know I'll post more info on these as soon as it becomes available.

Personally I'd like to see some camo toothpaste come with it.

Louis Vuitton x Kanye West Sneaker Photoshoot by La MJC

The good people over at La MJC have gotten their hands on the Kanye West for Louis Vuitton sneaker collection and taken some really nice pictures on the streets of Paris. Honestly not much more to say so I'll let the pictures do the talking...

The colors, materials, and construction of these are all really beautiful. Nice pictures also in bringing that out.

The sneakers start to release on July 1st but you should already be on a wait list at one of the select LV stores to be having even a chance at spending wads of cash on these. So good luck! Can't wait to see these all over SoHo next week.

La MJC is an entirely French publication but to see more pictures and get your translate game on, go here.

Hiroki Nakamura (of Visvim) Showroom Interview

Here is a nice interview with the founder of Visvim, Hiroki Nakamura, taken at their new showroom in Paris. If you aren't entirely familiar with the brand this is a good look into the brand to better understand their dedication to quality and comfort.
The 1st video focuses on footwear, concept, and design, while the second one is on their fragrances.

Oh, and I don't know who the interviewer is but it was really annoying to hear her talk to him like this. She clearly has never even heard of the brand and sounds like a typical really cracked out old rich woman. Oh well, still interesting to hear from Hiroki. I love the dedication to quality where their new shoe models will have replaceable soles that can be brought back to FIL stores to be fixed.

Sa-Ra - Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love

The Sa-Ra Creative Partners (or more simply Sa-Ra) have just released their second album, Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love.

If you haven't heard of Sa-Ra, it is made up of Om’Mas Keith, Shafiq Husayn and Taz Arnold, each of which bring their own musical prowess to the group. Thier 1st album, The Hollywood Recordings, is one of my favorite albums period as they covered all aspects of funk, soul, r&b, and hip hop in one album. This new album strays away from the hip hop influence and is much more consistently funky. It also has very few features so the sound is pure Sa-Ra, where the 1st was feature heavy with the likes of Dilla, Bilal, Pharaoh Monch, CNN, and Erykah Badu.

If nothing else, Sa-Ra comes with an extremely unique sound and they always have fun with the music. The lyrics can be deep at times but also be subtly hysterical at the same time without you even noticing.

I'm still on my 1st listen and my expectations are crazy high, but so far my favorite tracks are: Melodee N'mynor, The Bone Song, Bitch Day, Love Czars

Preview some tracks on their Myspace or just go and cop it right here.

Bape x Undercover - NOWHERE Sneakers

With the reopening of Bape London not to far away, it would seems as if the NOWHERE shop in Dover Street Market should be coming to a close soon. Well before that can happen, Nigo and Jun are teaming up for a final collaborative item through the store, a pair of Bape x Undercover NOWHERE sneakers.

Set to release exclusives at NOWHERE in London's Dover Street Market very soon.

Even though I have a pair of Ape Stas similar to em, I NEED these in my life. I've always been a fan of what Undercover does with the Jack Purcell model, especially with Silly Thing, but never have gotten my hands on any. So any readers out in London, get at me!

The Kid Daytona "Come Fly With Me" Listening Party

This past Wednesday, The Kid Daytona invited John and I to his listening party at Smash Studios to get an early listen of his new album, "Come Fly With Me", dropping June 30th.

The man of the hour.

Now it wouldn't be fair for me to give a thorough review of "Come Fly With Me" yet because the studio was packed with conversation, the bass was knocking heavy out the monitors, and I was definitely indulging in 'nuff Bacardi with Coke to make the room look like this...

On the left we have Harlem's Cash with some metalic gold Radii, and to the right Daytona with some more classic Gucci kicks. Who won?

The Kid Daytona and Meezy

Now from what I could hear, the production is dope, there are good features - including Kardinal Offishal, Harlem's Cash, Mickey Factz, Bun B - and the Flyness is undeniable. In fact, our friend Gloria, who came with us and never heard of Daytona, couldn't help but keep her head boppin' with a smile on her face.

Be sure to look for a solid review around June 30th, and check out the official album artwork and track listing here.
My tough tracks so far: Lately, Contact (Feat. Kardinal Offishal), Air Jordan (Feat. Harlem's Cash). John's favorite track, Cheers, didn't make the album.

Shouts to The Kid Daytona, Harlem's Cash, 6th Sense, K Stackz, the Rick Ross looking dude (and his chick), and everyone else that came thru and showed love!

RIP Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

As everyone already knows, yesterday we lost what I would consider the single biggest entertainer EVER in the passing of Michael Jackson. Really sad how his personal life spiraled out of control but from the age of 11 he was in the public eye and by the age of 20 he was literally taking over the world. Even those who didn't grow up to MJ's dominance know his amazing impact, which could even be seen recently as he sold out 50 straight shows in London (scheduled to start in just a few weeks) in a matter of days. Think about that, 50 shows in one city and every single ticket sold!

Hype Means Nothing sent over this memorial graphic of MJ with their signature finger glasses.

RIP to the greatest that did it when he did it. The world will be mourning.

The Speedy Concept Store - Louis Vuitton in Selfridges London

To celebrate their 100 year anniversary in the UK, major high end department store Selfridges has teamed up with Louis Vuitton to create an awesome Speedy Concept Store at the Selfridges flagship in London.

These are the 2 window displays that turn their famous bags into artwork.

If you aren't familiar, the Louis Vuitton Speedy Bag is by far their most famous model of handbag coming in a few sizes and styles as well as in almost every print and leather that they have make. You can see this on the inside of the store as the bags are displayed all over the place with many different patterns (even discontinued ones), especially the traditional LV monogram print.

The point of the store is to educate people on the history of the Speedy bag as well as to celebrate Selfridges 100 years in business. Super late with this info, the shop was only open for a month and will be closing tomorrow, the 26th of June.

Huf x .... Budweiser?

Just after Supreme dropped their collaboration with Budweiser (which I saw in person the other day, quite ugly), it now seems the Huf has come out with some more subliminal Budweiser collaborative products.

Kind of not a surprise from Huf, who seems to follow in Supreme's footsteps a lot. However in this case I think they did a way better job than Supreme did just plastering the Budweiser can logo all over every possible product.

These new Huf items are available at eastwestworldwide right now.

(and don't forget to use the code "SwaggerDap" for 20% off of your order!)

Adidas Originals by Kazuki (Neighborhood) a/w 2009

I brought you the very 1st look at this Adidas Originals by Kazuki Kuraishi (of Neighborhood) not too long ago and now there are already product shots of a select few items.

While Kazuki has taken part in Fragment, W)Taps, Bape, and Silly Thing, his creativity behind this line seems to gravitate towards the work he as done for Neighborhood. Because of that, I have a feeling that people are going to go nuts for this line.

Everything looks really nice and clean but the only 2 "must haves" for me personally are the first two pics. The polka dot rain jacket with leopard print down the side and the seamless waterproof "flannel shirt" jacket. I will be acquiring those.

This is out of the fall line up so expect this stuff to start releasing in August piece by piece.

Comme des Garçons BLACK Opens in NYC

On a very quiet street corner in Chelsea yesterday, the Comme des Garçons BLACK store opened its doors for the very 1st time.

Sorry for the crazy glare on the pictures but it was actually sunny for a change.

A very small boutique, the BLACK store is carrying a decent selection of womens clothing that is almost all blacked out (with the exception of some white here and there as well as a blue and black striped shirt). The collection is really well done with plenty of staple pieces well blended in with the avante garde ones that make CdG so great. It is serving as primarily a womens stores (I say primarily because some of the pants and tees looked a little big and could definitely be pulled off by guys) but word is that within the next month or 2 we should be seeing some selection for menswear.
BLACK going with the recession theme will allegedly last as long as this economic downturn lasts, which is nice since the prices are relatively cheap compared to the normal Comme des Garçons product. Figure roughly 40% off most items.

Aside from this store which is on 10th st. and 18th st. in Chelsea, there is also a BLACK corner in Barneys New York. Check here for the full list of stores.
And to get a limited view of the collection, check here.

Clipse ft Kanye - Kinda Like a Big Deal (Video)

There was a bunch of footage from behind the scenes last month in NYC, and now the video has finally dropped for The Clipse ft Kanye West - Kinda Like a Big Deal.

The video is really simple and really raw hip hop, I love it. And there won't be long before the next video as The Clipse and Pharrell are already shooting out in Cali for "I'm Good".
